We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to lead backend architecture and system design. This role involves proactively proposing and driving new systems that support critical customer-facing features, managing the backend roadmap, and making technical decisions that influence cross-functional delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead backend architecture and system design, proposing new systems for customer-facing features.
  • Own the backend roadmap, driving technical decisions and coordinating cross-functional delivery.
  • Optimize existing systems for performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Set engineering standards, lead design reviews, and unblock teammates.
  • Manage technical roadmap and address larger scope problems.
  • Make technical recommendations to improve the codebase, minimizing risk, and preventing bugs.
  • Coordinate and communicate seamlessly across engineering, product, and design teams.
  • Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate development velocity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in backend/distributed systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Go, Python, Ruby, or similar backend languages/frameworks.
  • Proven track record of leading a team to execute and ship features.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems.
  • Proficient with AI-assisted development tools.
  • A T-shaped engineer mindset with deep expertise in at least one domain.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building consensus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
