Khan Academy India is seeking a passionate Telugu Localization Specialist to help bring high-quality math and science content to millions of learners across India. This remote, freelance role focuses on localizing educational content from English to Telugu, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and cultural relevance. Job Overview
  • Remote freelance opportunity to localize and review educational content.
  • Contribute to the translation, adaptation, and quality assurance of math and science materials.
  • Collaborate with teachers and content creators to align with local needs and standards.
  • Support Khan Academy's vision of free, world-class education for everyone, everywhere.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review, edit, and create localized math/science content in Telugu, ensuring high quality and contextual accuracy.
  • Translate and adapt English educational resources to Telugu, retaining meaning and pedagogical intent.
  • Interact with state teachers to gather feedback and incorporate improvements into localized materials.
  • Audit textbooks and reference materials to ensure accurate and relevant localization.
  • Develop and maintain glossaries for specialized terminology and update them regularly.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Fluency in Telugu (speaking and writing); native speaker preferred.
  • Strong command of English for accurate localization.
  • Comfortable with math and/or science subjects up to class XII level.
  • Previous experience in content localization, ideally in academics.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to perform quality audits.
  • Familiarity with Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools.
  • Experience in teaching, online education, or video content creation is a plus.
  • Tech-savvy and eager to learn new tools and processes.
