The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a talented Japanese-language Creative Copywriter (Contractor) to support our Advancement Department during the upcoming Japan fundraising campaign for Wikipedia. This part-time, project-based role involves crafting compelling marketing content—including banners, emails, and other fundraising materials—while collaborating with a remote, mission-driven international team. You will receive guidance from the Fundraising department's content team and contribute to impactful campaigns that support free knowledge globally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop creative content ideas for Japanese-language fundraising materials, such as banners and email campaigns.
  • Write and deliver engaging copy in Japanese and provide accurate back-translations in English.
  • Review and copyedit Japanese fundraising content to ensure clarity and impact.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising content team, responding to feedback and adapting copy as needed.
  • Support a fast-paced, collaborative workflow in a remote, international environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Native proficiency in Japanese and fluent English communication.
  • Proven experience writing compelling, audience-oriented marketing copy.
  • Strong copyediting and content review skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, remote, and mission-driven workplace.
  • Comfortable adapting to feedback and working within tight deadlines.
