We are seeking a Project Based Freelance Contributor for the role of Assessment Item Specialist in Science. This remote position requires the creation of original, standards-aligned assessment items that are precisely mapped to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) or state-specific standards.

Key Responsibilities

Create original Science assessment items, tasks, and stimuli.
Transfer and format existing Science assessments into the Formative platform.
Produce and configure technology-enhanced items (TEIs) with accurate metadata tagging.
Conduct quality assurance reviews for unbiased and scientifically accurate content.
Validate content alignment and evaluate the Depth of Knowledge (DOK) for assessment items.
Provide expert feedback and recommendations for content tools and item bank features.

Required Skills & Qualifications

At least one year of experience writing and reviewing Science assessment items.
Comprehensive understanding of educational assessment design.
Deep familiarity with NGSS and state-specific science frameworks.
Ability to apply strict standards alignment principles.
Mastery of rigor and DOK classification.
Experience with technology-enhanced items and digital assessment platforms.
Thorough grasp of established style guides and quality control elements.
Proven track record of delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Legally authorized to work in the US.
Fully remote position.
