The Lead CDI Coder is responsible for accurately coding diagnoses from chart data in compliance with regulations. This role involves ensuring that documentation supports the level of care, applying ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for billing, and clarifying documentation with physicians to ensure accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately code diagnoses from chart data per regulations.
  • Ensure documentation supports the level of care provided.
  • Apply ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for billing purposes.
  • Clarify documentation with physicians for accurate diagnoses and procedures.
  • Issue queries to providers for ambiguous or incomplete documentation.
  • Stay updated on coding guidelines, clinical protocols, and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with compliance, revenue cycle, and quality teams to improve documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; coding credentials required (CPC/CRC/CCS/CPMA or similar).
  • 3+ years of outpatient medical coding experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCC.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a primarily remote environment with strong self-discipline.
