Technical Writing Team & Culture We have a well established technical writing team, and are looking to evolve our approach to content at JumpCloud. We have seasoned technical writing leadership and, as a result, the value of technical writing is recognized across the organization. We’re a fun bunch of content creators. We have regular knowledge-share meetings, team-wide & smaller group critiques, & team-building exercises monthly. What you’ll be doing: The primary focus for this role will be to contribute to our ever-growing JumpCloud platform. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to advance our technical content, generate best practices and drive the evolution of technical writing and content creation across the entire platform. In this role, you will: Develop Comprehensive Documentation. Scope, author, and publish new customer documentation for JumpCloud’s Help Center and update existing content. Collaborate Across Departments. Work closely with engineering, product management, and customer support teams to gather product information and ensure accuracy and effectiveness of documentation. Implement Documentation Standards. Define and standardize documentation practices for technical clarity, compliance, and consistency across the JumpCloud application. Lead Documentation Projects. Manage documentation projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress to ensure timely delivery of materials. Review and Revise Content. Perform peer editing and revision to improve the clarity, accuracy, and quality of technical documents. Adopt New Tools and Technologies. Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance the documentation process and improve the user experience. Provide Mentorship. Mentor junior technical writers and provide guidance on best practices in technical writing and documentation. Ensure Technical Accuracy. Verify technical information through hands-on testing of software and hardware, and consultation with technical experts. Optimize Searchability. Enhance the findability and accessibility of documentation through effective use of metadata, indexing, and search engine optimization techniques. Gather User Feedback. Collect and analyze user feedback to continuously improve documentation and meet user needs effectively. Who you are: You have 8+ years of related experience in Tech Writing and/or Content Strategy at fast-paced tech companies delivering customer value quickly to the market. You have direct work experience in Technical Writing and content creation for SaaS technology companies. You’ve shipped products over the years & are skilled at balancing both business-to-consumer and business-to-business considerations. You’re well-versed in data-informed content creation & development. You empathize with our unique IT users & are skilled at simplifying complex functional operations into clear & intuitive content. You have experience working in an agile environment with design, product, & engineering leaders to align on product strategy. You’re a trusted mentor. Your actions, experience, & knowledge are influential to content and content creators. You’re passionate about content culture. You’re a voice of technical writing, content strategy, writing principles & methods across all functions and levels of the organization. You drive collaboration across Engineering & Product teams to maintain a cohesive voice and tone throughout the product documentation. You foster a work environment that encourages mentorship, trust, respect, and collaboration.
