The Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer will be instrumental in the development and commissioning of automated systems for vehicle sub-component production. This role involves designing control systems that balance technical specifications with cost and lead-time. You will collaborate on equipment concepts, develop PLC code, and ensure compliance with industry safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in equipment concept development, balancing specifications, layout, cost, and lead-time.
  • Design NFPA79/NEC/UL508A panels and create electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics.
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code to ensure maintainable and reusable factory software.
  • Develop robot systems for automating vehicle sub-component production.
  • Implement compliant safety systems for robotics and conveyors.
  • Generate user-friendly HMI screens with troubleshooting feedback.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of design and commissioning experience in automation and controls.
  • Experience with process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems.
  • Familiarity with robotic welds (Kuka, ABB, Fanuc).
  • Experience in robot and PLC simulation.
  • Proficient in electrical schematic CAD using EPlan.
