Safety Project Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Staff Project Safety Specialist to develop and execute Safety and Health Plans (SSHP) and Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The ideal candidate will serve as the safety authority throughout all project phases, including orientations and interactions with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead field safety training with a strong emphasis on electrical safety (NFPA 70E).
• Manage environmental compliance and hazardous waste reporting.
• Define and manage a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program for all-weather field operations.
• Lead investigations for incidents and near-misses; implement corrective actions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in occupational health and field safety, particularly in construction or utility-scale environments.
• Experience managing hazardous waste programs and ensuring environmental compliance.
• Strong communication, training, and presentation skills.
• OSHA 30-hour certification; CSP, CHST, or CHMM credentials are a strong plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical science.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
