Canonical, a tech firm that publishes Ubuntu, a significant open source project and the platform for AI, IoT, and the cloud, is seeking a Linux Systems Software Engineering Manager for its Partner Engineering team. The selected candidate will lead an engineering team that focuses on optimising Ubuntu for the latest silicon, including iot, desktop, automotive or server and data center technologies. They will collaborate with specialist engineers from Canonical’s partners to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware, ensuring a common operating experience for their users. The role is remote and fast-paced, requiring resourcefulness, articulacy, and the ability to deliver on a wide range of solutions across various platforms. The ideal candidate should possess technical leadership, a background in software engineering, and experience managing software engineers with a history of planning, delivery, and quality. They should also be able to work in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation. Canonical’s compensation philosophy is to ensure equity right across its global workforce, including a competitive base pay, additional benefits reflecting their values and ideals, and individual learning and development budgets of 2,000USD per annum.
