"Powerful CRM with Strong Support but Steep Learning Curve"
I've been using Tessitura for six years and appreciate how it serves as the single source of truth for admissions, membership, and contribution processes. This integration of business channels greatly enhances the accuracy and targeting of our patron engagement strategies. I find Tessitura's analytics suite incredibly beneficial for supporting grant initiatives and developing robust marketing campaigns. Additionally, the support system is truly reassuring. We have access to assistance for both minor technical issues and larger projects through standard support, Extended Services, and other specialized groups. The Extended Services team, in particular, has deepened Tessitura's understanding of our organizational needs, allowing for solutions to more nuanced problems. Regular check-ins help us stay informed and on track with our initiatives. Despite the challenging setup, Tessitura's substantial on-site and online support eased the migration of resources and customization. Overall, leveraging Tessitura has been a comprehensive and valuable experience for our organization. I find that Tessitura's core design, still reflecting its origins as the Metropolitan Opera's proprietary system, can be complicated and unnecessary for many organizations, leading to clutter. Tessitura is primarily tailored to performing arts organizations, which leaves much to be desired for general admissions organizations such as museums and aquariums. Although recent updates are attempting to address this, the software still has some way to go. Additionally, the initial setup was tough despite the support received. There is also a significant learning curve and the cost is quite high—these aspects can be daunting initially, but the platform is robust once fully integrated and understood. I use Tessitura as a single source for admissions, memberships, and contributions, improving patron engagement and analytics. It supports robust marketing campaigns and institutional needs, solving nuanced problems through their Extended Services team.

"Detailed Reporting with Room for Improvement"
I like Tessitura because it allows me to input a large amount of data and get detailed outputs effortlessly in return. This capability is especially handy for generating reports crucial in our theatre activities, akin to a register of all happenings. Also, being able to easily handle such vast amounts of data frees me from tedious data entry tasks, letting me focus on more analytical work, which I deeply appreciate. This aspect of Tessitura boosts my productivity and adds significant value to my daily workflow. I faced several challenges with the Education Registration Extension. Initially, there were many teething problems that hindered efficiency. A major issue is that the extension doesn't write back to email, complicating communication processes. Additionally, the date of birth format defaults to American, but I believe an English format should be standard to avoid confusion. The report generated from this extension also needs improvement to be truly useful. Another inconvenience is having to fill out all information across several different tabs, which could be streamlined. Furthermore, the order page includes a source number whose relevance seems questionable, indicating potential unnecessary complexity. I use Tessitura to generate detailed theatre reports and manage orders efficiently, saving time on data input and enabling me to focus on analysis.

"Feature-Packed and Customizable with Exceptional Support"
Tessitura has a wealth of features and is highly customizable, allowing you to tailor the software to your business needs. They have a fantastic customer support team with quick response times. It integrates powerful data analytics with Sisense for data insights. Tessitura's size can lead to a steep learning curve and requires significant dedicated time to make the most out of it. This can make onboarding difficult and building buy-in challenging. Tessitura helps us know our patrons, sell tickets, manage donors, register students for classes, and market to segments. It also provides valuable data insights on our business. It helps us reach and understand our patrons and manage their data.

"Comprehensive Event Ticketing with Excellent Support"
A robust system that can handle ticketing for multiple events in various ways. Great customer support and a very responsive team. They are dedicated to continuously improving the software and processes. There are so many features and possible customizations that it requires additional resources, both human and financial. To get the most out of the system, I need to work with a consulting group. Tessitura provides a robust system but also offers tools to make setup easier and more user-friendly than other systems. What used to take days to set up now takes only hours with Tessitura. Because the system is flexible, we can use it in a way that best fits our business model rather than trying to fit our business to their model.

"Powerful, Customizable, and Responsive—Worth the Price"
Tessitura is incredibly robust and customizable. In my nearly 10 years of using it, I've rarely encountered a problem I couldn't solve. They listen, adapt, and genuinely care about their community's feedback. Ease of use has improved over time. Tessitura is expensive, but you get what you pay for. You definitely need someone on your team with technical expertise or curiosity to get the most out of Tess, or you need to be able to pay a consultant for help. If you have a technically inclined and curious person on your team, you'll manage with the basics just fine. Older versions were hard to train people on, but v16 has made that significantly better. Tessitura allows us to holistically house, view, and analyze our data. The addition of Tessitura Analytics has been a game changer. Having a multipurpose CRM that allows all our transactional spaces to live in one core environment supercharges our reporting.

"Remarkable Support and Community Make Tessitura Shine"
What I value most about Tessitura is the incredible community and support ecosystem they've built. User groups and the TLCC conference offer genuine chances to connect with peers and share best practices across the industry. I'm amazed at how they consistently update and improve features based on actual user needs rather than just chasing profits—they truly seem focused on serving their members. The staff are outstanding; they're extremely helpful and respond quickly to inquiries, which makes a huge difference when solving problems or implementing new workflows. It's rare to find a software company that combines powerful technology with such a genuine commitment to supporting its users. While I appreciate that Tessitura operates as a nonprofit focused on serving members, this sometimes means limited resources compared to larger commercial software companies. I'd also like to see them accelerate AI adoption to help organizations work more efficiently with patron data and communications. Tessitura puts the customer at the center from the very beginning, which is transformative for how we work. We can track all interactions with each patron—ticket and subscription purchases, contributions, special event attendance, solicitations, you name it—at the individual patron level. This comprehensive view means we're never working in silos or missing part of someone's relationship with our organization. It allows us to be more strategic and personalized in communications, understand patrons' full engagement journeys, and make smarter decisions about programming and fundraising.

"Comprehensive All-in-One Platform, but Intimidating for Newcomers"
I love that it's an all-in-one platform. I love that every department can find something useful in it. I love how I can access data from all the years we've used the platform. I wasn't with the company during implementation, but I've been around for upgrades, and it's only getting easier. The customer support team is fantastic, and I enjoy working with them through every quirk. I use it every day. It's a bit overwhelming for new people, especially those who have never used a CRM before. It's also expensive. I think it works well if you know what you're doing, but that's after using the program for 8 years, and I still don't feel like I'm using it to its full potential. With Tessitura, we can sell tickets, take fundraising revenue, and keep track of everything in one system.

"Exceptional Community and Support, Strong Data Integration"
I'm a fan of the Tessitura community. If documentation is lacking in a specific area, you can post your question to the community, and usually someone has already encountered the same issue and devised a creative solution. They've also invested a lot in enhancing their support team, which shows in ticket response times. Finally, it's a huge advantage to have visitation data linked with fundraising data. That was the reason for its original creation, and it remains a leader in that space. Version 16 brought major usability improvements, though it has traditionally been a complex system. It has a lot of power behind it, which can overwhelm hesitant users or those who lack strong communication skills on their teams. Tessitura is spending a lot of time making it as powerful for museums as it is for theaters. The future looks bright with their focus on simplifying ticketing with fewer 'venue' restrictions and out-of-the-box member card functionality. Additionally, analytics are becoming more user-friendly with prebuilt dashboards. Basically, any way they can offer stellar functionality without requiring another vendor contract is a win.

"Extensive Features and Flexible Options with Excellent Resources"
Tessitura offers a broad array of functions and gives users complete control over their database. Documentation, instructional videos, and other learning materials are readily accessible and easy to understand. It doesn't impose a one-size-fits-all approach; there are typically multiple ways to achieve a desired result, tailored to various use cases. There can be a steep learning curve when bringing new users on board due to the sheer amount of capabilities. A few basic discount types or report configuration options are missing that really seem like they should exist. We use Tessitura as a comprehensive database tracking every interaction with our patrons and donors, from ticket sales to donations to attendance history and email marketing. It also handles ticket sales, discounts, and seat-related tasks for all performances at our venue. Everything we need is in one place and can be modified from the same location.

"Cincinnati Opera's Experience with Tessitura"
Tessitura has become the core system for our organization, integrating ticketing, fundraising, marketing, customer service, and analytics into a single platform. The primary advantage is having a consolidated patron record and dataset, which enables departments to operate from consistent information. Its reporting and analytics capabilities allow us to monitor sales, subscriptions, fundraising, and patron engagement without depending on multiple systems. Although there is a learning curve, the platform's adaptability helps us manage intricate workflows and tailor it to our requirements. The combination of robust features, extensive support resources, and an engaged user community has made Tessitura a worthwhile long-term investment for us. Tessitura is highly flexible, but that flexibility brings a significant learning curve. Some processes are intricate, and certain interface elements appear outdated relative to newer SaaS products. Its reporting tools are powerful but often demand technical skills, creating reliance on a few power users. Ongoing enhancements to user experience and self-service reporting would increase accessibility without compromising functionality. Tessitura resolves the challenge of managing ticketing, fundraising, marketing, and patron data in one system. Rather than keeping separate databases and reporting tools, we now have a unified perspective of patron activity across the organization. This has boosted both customer service and decision-making. Staff can quickly access a patron's full history, while leadership uses reporting and analytics to track sales, fundraising, and engagement trends. Having a single source of truth reduces redundant work, improves data quality, and enables more informed business decisions.
