Deep integrations with Kubernetes give us a much better understanding of our environment and its risks. Some predefined policies didn't work out of the box. StackRox made it easy for us to gain visibility and control over our container and Kubernetes environments.

At an executive level, I can assess and report on the health of our SaaS infrastructure using StackRox. The dashboards, graphs, and charts help us monitor and prioritize infrastructure work. Initially, the amount of information can be overwhelming, but StackRox brings visibility into risks in our Kubernetes environment and offers a kube-native way to remediate them.

Integration is easy, and we saw results quickly. It simplifies triaging security issues in k8s environments. While it requires a fair amount of configuration to get the most effective results, it's still less than other products. It provides security observability across multi-cloud k8s environments and has helped bolster our security posture and meet contractual security obligations during reviews.

StackRox provides native K8s security by leveraging underlying technologies like network policies and admission controllers. It integrates with container registries and DevOps tools, making it easier to deploy and run container security in any environment. StackRox is also a great partner, working with us to refine features; their CSM team is knowledgeable and responsive to customer feedback. However, StackRox isn't yet a true SaaS solution; we'd prefer a cloud-hosted service. Additionally, tighter integration with ticket management systems would be beneficial. We have used StackRox for vulnerability management (build and runtime), network policies and micro-segmentation, and compliance dashboards.

Installation is straightforward, and the benefits are immediate. It gives me deep insights into the security posture of our Kubernetes cluster and all its components. The product and company have been great to work with, offering outstanding support and knowledgeable staff. Policy and alert management can be somewhat overwhelming. Without StackRox, maintaining compliance with ever-changing hosting technologies would have been difficult. StackRox has been my go-to for all security and compliance needs for my GKE/Kubernetes environment, and it's invaluable when auditors come with questions.

Before StackRox, even with native tools, we had minimal visibility into vulnerabilities in our k8s environment.

"Excellent Security Tool Built Specifically for Kubernetes"
A major factor in choosing StackRox was its native Kubernetes design, unlike other products where containers and K8s feel like an afterthought. When I deployed it, the process involved a mix of bash scripts, raw YAML, and Helm charts. Although the deployment was easy, I would have preferred a Helm-only approach. Since adopting Kubernetes, we needed a tool to give us security insights into our clusters. StackRox provided exactly that, along with a wealth of additional information we didn't realize we needed.

Getting StackRox up and running is straightforward and quickly delivers value, with a clean user interface. It includes outbound connectors for various products, making it easy to integrate into our existing stack. The compliance frameworks come with more than just the controls; they also provide references to the original text, which helps us understand the context and interpret requirements ourselves. However, adding users is quite cumbersome because we can't do it through the web interface and have to rely on the CLI, which seems like a significant oversight. Additionally, there's no way to create custom benchmarks beyond the predefined frameworks, although this feature is apparently in development. The primary issue we needed to address was container visibility, and StackRox simplified what would have required multiple tools. Now we can efficiently provide auditors with the necessary data and also make it easier for our compliance team to generate this information.

"Streamlined compliance and security oversight for Kubernetes platforms"
StackRox has made it much simpler for us to meet compliance requirements. We now have a centralized view of our adherence to CIS Benchmarks, NIST, PCI, HIPAA, and SOC-2 controls. We needed a solution to handle SOC-2 compliance, vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, handling k8s secrets, and auditing access to customer environments. StackRox has proven excellent for all of that. Completing vendor security assessments has become significantly easier after implementing StackRox. Since I'm more comfortable with command-line interfaces, I would have liked to see more CLI features, but I'm still exploring that aspect. The process of filling out security vendor assessments and generating compliance reports from the dashboard for SOC-2 has been automated, which is a huge time-saver.
