"Smooth Email Integration with Reliable Support"
I love Mailgun's seamless integration, which has made sending emails from my applications incredibly easy. Reliability is excellent, and the API is straightforward, fitting perfectly into my workflow. The scalability is great—I can increase email volume as needed—and pricing is reasonable. The free tier was a nice starting point and has only improved over the years. One thing I'd change is how domain names are set up; there are too many technical details to enter into your DNS, which can confuse novice users. I use Mailgun to send email notifications from my applications, ensuring reliable delivery and simplifying integration with its API key. It's user-friendly and 100% reliable in my projects, allowing easy workflow integration and scaling email volume affordably.

"Account Permanently Blocked Without Any Warning—Unreliable Service"
The dashboard was easy to use, and sending bulk emails went smoothly until my account got abruptly blocked. I had been sending thousands of customer emails daily, and suddenly, without any prior warning or update, they permanently disabled my account. I got a generic email from support (attached below), but they wouldn't provide any valid reason. As a result, I lost all my work, email history, and campaigns built in Mailgun. It's extremely unprofessional to shut down an account permanently without explanation or a chance to resolve the issue. I depended on this service for my business, and this move caused a massive loss. If you're considering Mailgun, think twice—your account can be disabled anytime without notice, and you'll lose all your data and effort. Very unreliable service! Mailgun was helping me send bulk emails (around 1000+ daily) to customers for marketing and communication. Initially, it solved reaching my audience easily, but now that they've permanently disabled my account without warning, all those benefits are gone and I've lost all my work.
"Powerful Features and Easy Setup, but Pricing Scales Steeply"
I love Mailgun's one-line API send, which lets me add just 5 lines of code and all my emails keep working forever without server config issues. The templates and variables are fantastic because I don't have to hardcode anything like 'Hey {{name}}' again, saving me hours weekly. Batch sending is a huge plus—I can send 10k personalized emails in one call, finishing in seconds rather than hours. Real-time webhooks are great; they auto-clean the list the second an email hard-bounces, helping me avoid losing money on dead emails. Inbound routes automatically create tickets when customers reply, making me look professional without extra effort. Auto suppressions prevent me from accidentally sending to unsubscribed or bounced contacts, preserving my sender reputation. One-click unsubscribe handling reduces angry replies and keeps my support inbox manageable. Searchable logs let me verify delivery quickly, often ending conversations within 30 seconds. The free sandbox domain for testing is also great, letting me test every email flow right away without buying a domain. Two-click DKIM/SPF/DMARC setup is convenient, and having a dedicated IP when I grow helps with scalability. However, there are drawbacks: sudden account suspensions without warning—I once woke up to my entire email flow dead because their bot flagged 'suspicious activity' even on legit transactional stuff, and support ghosted me for days while users flooded my DMs asking for reset links. That's a trust-killer. Pricing ramps up too fast once I grow—starting cheap for MVP but hitting 50k emails/mo jumps the $35 base with overages, plus dedicated IPs at $90+ feels nickel-and-dimed. The free tier got gutted—used to be a lifesaver, but now it's 30 days/5k emails then throttles hard to 300/day with 1-day logs only. I outgrew it in week 2, forcing me to pay sooner. Setup and dashboard scream 'dev-only'—no wizard for domains/DNS, so I'm pasting TXT records at 2am hoping I didn't typo. The UI is clunky for quick checks; I end up in API docs more than the dashboard, slowing me down when iterating fast. Deliverability hiccups to Outlook/Hotmail—Gmail/Yahoo are fine, but 20-30% of my Microsoft users never see password resets or alerts. Their 'warm-up' advice is vague, and I waste hours tweaking content just to chase inbox placement. Support is email/ticket roulette—no live chat or phone unless on the $90 plan. A bounce spike or webhook glitch? I submit a ticket and stare at 'under review' for 48+ hours while churn ticks up. Phone support as a paywall feels punitive. Logs vanish too quick on basics—free/basic plans keep logs for 1-3 days only; user complains 'I didn't get the invoice' a week later, and I have zero proof to debug. Forces me to build my own archiving, which is dumb. No built-in marketing tools or pretty templates—I'm stuck coding simple HTML for promos or 'trial ending' nudges, then pairing with Mailchimp for anything drip-y. Why not bundle basics so I don't juggle two dashboards? Occasional outages or delays I can't predict—rare, but when their API hiccups (like that global queue issue last month), my whole signup flow breaks. No real-time status page alerts—I'm scrambling via Twitter instead of building. Overall, Mailgun ensures emails hit the inbox, automates replies, and provides full tracking. It solves deliverability issues, prevents manual export of bounced emails, and simplifies promo sends. I trust it for reliable high-volume sending, dev-friendly API, and generous free tier.
"Handles High Volumes Reliably and Protects Domain Reputation"
The standout feature is Mailgun's ability to handle high sending volumes reliably while keeping our domain's reputation safe. As a commercial SME, we send a lot of electronic documents, and before Mailgun, our domain kept getting blocked due to high bounce rates and invalid emails. Mailgun automatically manages and filters these issues, which is vital for our operations. It takes care of the messy side of email sending, ensuring our critical documents always get delivered and our domain stays safe. Their quick support is also a big plus. Once it's set up, there's little to dislike because it just works. If I had to nitpick, initial setup and the interface can be a bit confusing. Getting DNS records and API integration done was tough for a small company like ours without a full IT team—it felt very technical at first. It would be nice to have a simple 'Setup for Business Owners' guide, not just technical docs. But again, once you get past that initial hurdle, it's excellent. The main problem Mailgun solves for us is domain reputation and email delivery failure.
"Dependable Email Delivery with Robust Features and Simple Integration"
Mailgun has proven very reliable for sending transactional emails and system notifications. The API is well-documented, easy to integrate, and flexible for complex scenarios. I've consistently seen strong deliverability, and features like logs, webhooks, and event tracking make debugging and monitoring a breeze. DNS setup is straightforward, with good support for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. However, as volume grows, costs can become steep, which might be a problem for smaller teams or startups. The UI works but feels dated in places and could intimidate non-technical users. Also, some advanced features aren't obvious in the dashboard, so you often have to dig into documentation. Mailgun solves the challenge of sending dependable, scalable transactional emails without managing your own mail servers. It's especially useful for app-generated messages like notifications, password resets, and alerts. The detailed insights into delivery events and failures let us quickly diagnose issues, boosting system reliability and user trust.
"Clean Interface and Reliable Delivery"
We appreciate Mailgun's very clean UI/UX, which makes it user-friendly. It's dependable with 100% uptime. The API is simple to implement, and there's also an SMTP option, which I value. We moved from Amazon SES to Mailgun because of the better interface and fewer delivery problems. Initial setup took just a few minutes and was very easy. Mailgun also integrates well with other software like Iterable. However, setting up tracking can be a bit tricky depending on your SSL certificate management and whether multi-level subdomains are allowed. Additionally, the logs can be complicated to navigate; finding a specific email takes time, and there's no easy search function. We use Mailgun for sending emails with high deliverability, and it offers a better UI and fewer delivery issues than Amazon SES.
"Simple Setup with CloudFlare Integration and Clear Delivery Metrics"
Getting started is very simple, with a step-by-step interface and even automatic DNS record integration with CloudFlare. The deliverability graph is clean and straightforward, immediately showing any failed emails. I did have one occasion where the CloudFlare integration didn't work—it said to try again in a couple of minutes but was down for at least an hour, so I had to add the records manually. Apart from that, everything else was fine. Sending marketing and transactional emails with good deliverability is crucial, because setting up your own servers, warming them up, and monitoring is complex. That's why using a service like Mailgun to outsource it makes sense.
"Quick Setup with Flexible SDKs and Comprehensive Tracking"
Setting up is very straightforward, and there are multiple SDKs to plug into my codebase. The dashboard offers a rich experience for tracking emails and crafting custom HTML templates. As usage grows, pricing and feature limits can get confusing, and some advanced setups have a curve for beginners. Mailgun streamlines sending, receiving, and managing transactional emails via its SDK and API, which is great for developers handling email verification, password resets, and other notifications. The free tier is generous, offering 3000 emails for testing in dev mode.
"Smooth Email Automation with Excellent Delivery Rates"
I rely on Mailgun for our automated reports, welcome emails, and password resets. Its simplicity stands out, and deliverability is top-notch, especially compared to our other marketing-focused email system. Getting started was straightforward, and it's designed for easy development. Mailgun takes care of all these emails automatically, so we don't have to handle them manually. The logs are exceptionally well-crafted, allowing us to quickly trace any issues with email sending. The only minor gripe is that on a large monitor, the filter options for logs appear on the far right, which feels a bit off since you click a filter button on the left. It's not a big deal, just a nitpick. Overall, Mailgun manages our automated reports, welcome invites, and password resets so we don't manually deal with them, and the logging helps us pinpoint email problems.
"Affordable Pricing and Seamless Squarespace Integration"
The cost is reasonable and integrating with Squarespace was a breeze. Their customer support came through quickly when I had an account validation problem during onboarding—something with SMS in my country—and they resolved it fast, which left me happy. Setting up with Squarespace was particularly straightforward, making the whole experience positive. After updating my domain settings, though, I ran into trouble sending emails to Google users on my own provider; my messages no longer carry the right signature, so they risk being flagged as spam when I contact clients who've agreed to promos. On the plus side, I'm not loading my servers with mail queues, and the built-in tracking and analytics for client emails mean I don't have to code that myself. I haven't used the tool long enough to tap all its benefits since we're a startup just getting going.
