"A Great Analytics Platform with Robust Features"
Looker Studio by Google is a data visualization tool that lets you create dashboards for end users, presenting data insights clearly to help senior management make better-informed decisions. It offers a variety of widgets for building dashboards and reports, including bar graphs, charts, butterfly charts, word clouds, funnel charts, line graphs, pie charts, gauges, maps, and more. In our case, Looker Studio is used by the Marketing department to forecast sales for upcoming years based on previous data. It also includes its own AI component to support forecasting. There's really nothing to dislike. Since it's a Google product, support is good, and the platform feels stable and reliable overall. Administration and ongoing maintenance are straightforward, making it easy to manage day to day. It integrates well with other Google products—you can pull source data from Google Sheets, Google Analytics, Google Ads, or other cloud databases. It can also connect through connectors like BigQuery and partner connectors like Facebook Ads. Overall, Looker Studio is a great option for data analytics and visualization. It's widely used today, and its drag-and-drop interface is easy to work with. You can also use Looker Studio APIs in your own custom applications to build custom charts and graphs. Dashboards can be shared with authorized users. Looker Studio can pull data from various sources, such as flat files or databases, clean it, and store it in intermediate tables for visualization in dashboards. Data pulls can be scheduled at required intervals. We've been using Looker Studio to visualize our gas pipelines circulation across the country.

"Reliable Reporting Tool, but Needs Improvement with Large Datasets"
I use Looker to build reports and visualizations for supply chain and retail partners, and it has been very helpful for creating reports smoothly with Google BigQuery as the data source. I especially appreciate how easy it is to set up and that it's cloud-based, making it simple to use on any machine. Unlike tools like Power BI, Looker doesn't require a high-end computer to run well. Since I can access it through any browser, I can get started quickly and focus on building reports. Performance can be slow at times, especially with large datasets. I also find limited flexibility for custom plots, and scheduling and refreshing reports should be easier moving forward. Looker addresses the challenge of fragmented and inconsistent data across tools and teams by offering a centralized, dependable data platform. Before Looker, it's hard to ensure everyone uses the same definitions and metrics, causing confusion and misaligned decisions. With Looker, data is modeled in one place, creating a single source of truth that teams can rely on consistently. As a result, accuracy and consistency improve across reports and dashboards, and there's less need for manual data extraction or ad hoc analysis. For me, the biggest advantage is being able to explore data quickly, build dashboards, and surface actionable insights without heavy dependence on engineering or data teams. It saves time, speeds up decision-making, and lets me spend more effort on analysis rather than data preparation. Overall, Looker streamlines reporting, increases transparency, and supports more data-driven decision-making across the organization.

"Centralized Metrics with a Friendly Interface, but Performance Issues Exist"
My favorite thing about Looker is having all our metrics in one place with a very user-friendly interface that's easy to navigate and filter based on our needs. It also helps non-technical people for analysis. I also like the query feature that integrates with BigQuery and other data warehouses, allowing us to retrieve any information based on business requirements. The only thing Looker should work on is that sometimes the dashboard feels unresponsive or takes too long to load filters, especially when handling large historical data. Also, each time we need to click the submit icon to get filtered data, which could be automated in the future. It mainly helps solve data silos, and with the recent integration of LookML in their backend logic, our data stays organized. It also helps create data models and relationships so we can use predefined fields without writing complex SQL, which speeds up my workflow.

"LookML Empowers Self-Service Analytics for Our Team"
What I like most about Looker is that it allows our entire team to explore data without writing SQL every time. The LookML layer is a game-changer—once the data model is set up, business users can create their own dashboards and pull reports independently, which has drastically reduced the number of ad-hoc request tickets to our analytics team. The reusable blocks and custom dimensions help maintain consistency across reports—everyone views the same numbers calculated the same way, cutting down on confusion in meetings. The embedded analytics feature was an unexpected bonus; we've shared dashboards directly with external stakeholders without giving full platform access, making client reporting smoother and more professional. Honestly, I have no major complaints. Looker does exactly what we need and works well for our use case. If I had to nitpick, the initial setup and learning LookML requires some technical knowledge, so it's not something a non-technical person can jump into on day one. But once set up properly, it runs smoothly, and the value far outweighs any small learning curve. Before Looker, every data request meant manual pulls by our team—slow and frustrating for everyone. Now people can log in and build their own reports, saving us tons of time and giving people faster answers without waiting on us. The best part is everyone sees the same numbers, so there's no more back-and-forth about whose data is correct.

"Transforms Data into Actionable Dashboards, but Steep Learning Curve"
I most appreciate Looker's ability to turn raw data into interactive dashboards and actionable insights. It lets both technical and non-technical users explore data, create reports, and make informed decisions without heavy manual analysis. Interactive dashboards with real-time visualization, powerful data modeling via LookML for consistent reporting, self-service analytics that allow independent data exploration, easy sharing and scheduling of reports, and seamless integration with cloud data warehouses and business tools. For me, the most valuable feature is the interactive dashboards—they give a clear view of key business and operational metrics, making it easy to identify trends, monitor KPIs, and make data-driven decisions without writing complex queries. The biggest benefit is improved decision-making: Looker makes data accessible across teams, reduces manual reporting, and helps organizations gain meaningful insights more efficiently. The main drawback is the learning curve. While basic dashboard use is straightforward, creating and maintaining data models or complex reports often requires a deeper understanding of LookML and the underlying data structure. Building advanced dashboards and custom reports can require technical expertise, and performance may slow with very large datasets or complex queries. Some customization and advanced analytics features take time to configure. Looker solves the problem of scattered data and manual reporting by providing a centralized platform for analytics and visualization. Instead of pulling data from multiple sources and creating reports manually, teams can access real-time insights through interactive dashboards. It centralizes data, eliminates manual reporting, provides real-time dashboards, enables self-service analytics, and improves collaboration. In my daily work, I use Looker to monitor KPIs, analyze metrics, and create performance dashboards. Real-time data helps me identify trends, validate releases, and make informed decisions faster. The biggest benefit is efficiency—Looker reduces time spent on data gathering and analysis, letting teams focus on interpreting insights rather than preparing reports.

"Simple Patient Reporting with a Friendly Interface"
I've used Looker Studio to create our patient reports by connecting ED and PE scores along with personal details from Google Sheets. It was very helpful for our patients to see their progress, and from an organizational perspective, it was great because we didn't have to worry about anything—Looker handled it automatically. The interface is visually user-friendly as it generates graphs showing patient progress. Connecting reports is straightforward, and the overall user experience is good. It allowed us to generate patient reports effortlessly. The initial setup was very easy. Sometimes if we accidentally don't find a value from Google Sheets, it won't show the graph, which could be improved. I use Looker to generate patient reports that help us visualize progress easily. The integration with Google Sheets is seamless, and the user-friendly experience eliminates reporting hassles.

"Efficient Student Scheduling and Auditing with Minor Load Issues"
I like that I can quickly see where my scheduled students are—whether it's their class, ride times, clinicals, or any missing files that would make their uploads unacceptable. The only downside is that it sometimes takes a while to load and shows a white screen, but I that's not a Looker issue—probably just internet or my computer being slow. Looker solves the problem of having to manage four or five different apps or websites to get information about school students, which takes a lot of time. It completely removes the need to search for this information for hours; everything I need is right there without switching apps or websites. All the data is in front of me, making work much better and more efficient.

"Great for Visualization but Steep Learning Curve"
I rely on Looker for data visualization, building dashboards, and generating business reports. I love how it transforms complex data into clear, interactive dashboards that are easy to understand. The interface is user-friendly, making it accessible to both technical and non-technical users without needing deep expertise. It connects to various data sources and offers real-time insights. The customization options for reports and dashboards are very flexible, letting teams focus on the metrics that matter to them. Looker has centralized our data, making analysis faster and more reliable. However, there are areas for improvement. New users face a steep learning curve, especially when dealing with advanced features or LookML modeling. Some customizations require technical knowledge, which might not be ideal for all teams. Performance can slow down with very large datasets or complex dashboards. Pricing is another issue; it can be expensive for smaller organizations or teams with limited budgets. I use Looker to convert raw data into meaningful insights via dashboards and visualizations. It has solved our data accessibility and reporting efficiency problems by centralizing data for faster, more reliable analysis, making it easy to understand and share.

"Robust Once Configured, but Setup Takes Time"
The dashboards look clean, and I've set up scheduled reports for several clients that basically run on autopilot. Every Monday morning, the right numbers arrive in the right inboxes without anyone touching anything. That kind of automation adds up over time—it might seem small, but it eliminates a whole batch of repetitive tasks. Performance can lag on complex queries depending on how the data warehouse is structured. Looker isn't always the culprit, but it's tough to explain that to stakeholders staring at a spinner. Pricing is also on the steep side for small companies; it's really built for teams with dedicated data infrastructure, and the cost reflects that. The main win is getting rid of the constant request queue when all reporting goes through one person. With Looker, the model is created once, and stakeholders can explore it themselves. Scheduled reports cut out the manual effort of pulling and sending data regularly. Embedded analytics makes data usable for clients. Those three benefits together justify the complexity and expense, but it took months of setup to get there.

"Powerful Analytics Platform That Scales Well but Has Some Gaps"
Looker's LookML framework is a huge asset because it lets people build reports through a simple drag-and-drop interface without having to write SQL. I also like the advanced capabilities like liquid syntax, which offer flexibility for scenarios such as currency conversion or comparing periods with dynamic date ranges. It was impressive that we could grow our embedded analytics from nothing to 3500 users thanks to Looker's strong governance and monitoring. Another plus is that embedding dashboards is much simpler than creating them from scratch. However, the visualizations seem outdated compared to what other tools offer. There's also almost no built-in AI capabilities, which feels like a missed opportunity. Pricing has risen sharply since 2022, going from about £50,000 to £100,000 per year. Looker supports scaling data to 3500 users with centralized governance, and its semantic model makes report building easy.
