Works well for Windows but has too many options. Excellent support in the USA, and I appreciate that, but there are too many settings; a simpler interface would be better. They need more devices to replace the NAS line. It's expensive, but it's a high-quality product with US-based support and manufacturing. Good for business continuity.

Remote administration is easy, so most troubleshooting can be done without visiting the client's office. The Datto Drive integration is crucial because it lets users outside the local network access shares. There are fewer protocol options than some NAS systems like Synology, and Active Directory integration could be better. I've seen two instances where AD integration completely failed, forcing users to use a public share or local logins. Set up your shares carefully and double-check security settings. Use the AD plugin to simplify permissions, but be aware it can fail. Do use Datto Drive for remote access. Setup is simple and automated, so getting started is hassle-free. Many small businesses that don't need a full server can use Datto NAS as a mini file server, creating network shares accessible from home. The integrated local and cloud backup makes it even more useful and convenient.

The interface is fast and user-friendly, and restoring files is straightforward. I can quickly access restores via SMB shares. User access configuration and initial backup setup can be a bit tedious. "Effortless Backups with Datto NAS"
The seamless connection between the Datto NAS unit and Datto's cloud backup service makes it straightforward to maintain off-site copies of your local NAS snapshots. Currently, there's a problem with the Active Directory integration in the Datto Drive component that causes AD logins to fail after a NAS reboot. To fix it, you have to SSH into the device and run a command. Datto says this will be addressed in an upcoming update. Our backup plan with Datto offers infinite retention at a cost much lower than building an equivalent system in-house.
