AvePoint Confidence Platform

It is so easy to setup, literally in the space of 10 mins, your cloud data is being backed up at whatever interval/frequency you choose. Possibly the frequency of the backups, you can only do max 6 per day for things like OneDrive or Exchange Online. Not a critique on the platform, it's the aftercare. It seems like we have to prompt AvePoint for everything. They're not proactive in telling us of any changes or anything like that. We have an on-prem backup solution. So this solves our 365 stack backup issues, without having to backup locally and then send up to the cloud, this backs up cloud to cloud.

I love how easy it is to use and set up AvePoint Confidence Platform. The step-by-step initial setup process is straightforward, and although we ran into a few issues, AvePoint's support was really helpful in resolving them. The platform provides great reporting, offering insights for our clients and giving them visibility with auto reports sent on a regular basis. It's also easy to manage and update, and having a near 'one-pane-of-glass view' where all backups are in one place is super convenient. The segregation of users and the ability to attach Azure groups make management much more manageable. Importantly, clients can recover their own data without needing our intervention, which frees up time for us to focus on other tasks. There are some errors that happen because of some connections that break. We only find this out when we get the reports for backups that show errors. These are easily fixed, but it would be great if we could be notified the moment something breaks - or if possible, when something is about to break or expire. Azure accounts/certificates expire and no notification is placed on those. For backups, some user licenses get removed but their account is still in AD (and needs to be), but their backups aren't required anymore - these cause alerts and require tweaking to work. Microsoft outages do occur and sometimes cause issues. We first get broken backups and then get notified much later of the issue via AvePoint. Earlier notifications would be great. I use AvePoint Confidence Platform to backup data and it solves data recovery issues by enabling clients to self-recover, freeing up our time. It simplifies management with a single view and easy setup, while reporting gives clients valuable insights and visibility.

Providing services that help to alleviate pain points with managing Microsoft products has been exponentially helpful. Additionally, our account managers and support technicians are absolutely excellent. They provide top-notch service and are a pleasure to work with. There isn't anything specific about the platform or products that I go so far to say I "dislike". There are always limitations to how things can be configured. Whenever there is a feature limitation or missing option, the AvePoint team always notates our preferences. They provide news updates on product enhancements or upcoming rollouts that either may help to address the limitation or actually is the exact feature we requested. Again, our organization heavily leverages the M365 suite of products. AvePoint helps us, as the application owners, to govern and secure the environment. The enhanced governance features are probably my personal favorite as the SharePoint, Teams, and Viva admin. The reporting tools are also well utilized to help my team stay up to date on policy changes that affect specific areas.

I like that AvePoint Confidence Platform translates technical telemetry into actionable insights, offering clear adoption visibility and historical tracking. It provides ownership and dependency awareness, which is helpful for making governance decisions. The adoption visibility feature is especially valuable, as it helps me confirm whether reports are assisting users and prioritize reports that need immediate attention. It's also useful for tracking user engagement with our SharePoint-hosted web pages, ensuring our governance guidelines and best practices documents are being accessed. Overall, it's a good package. Right now, it is showing all for what data has been collected. It would be great to bring AI to explain some data-related insights. I use AvePoint Confidence Platform to gain visibility into Power BI and SharePoint usage, identifying report engagement levels and optimizing licensing. It turns technical data into actionable insights, enhances governance with adoption visibility, tracks report effectiveness, and assists in prioritizing high-use reports.

I like AvePoint Confidence Platform for its reliable and comprehensive backup for O365 and fast restores. We also use it to restore SharePoint sites as a template, which is really useful. The helpful alerts for malicious data are a valuable feature as they keep us informed about potential issues. Additionally, the platform is easy to manage, ensuring our data is always protected and easily recoverable, including helping restore accidental deletions. The initial setup was very simple and easy, allowing us to securely access our tenant and kick off the scan efficiently. I find accessing reports without needing to download them would be very useful. Also, having more control over malicious activity exceptions is important since they can sometimes be false positives. I use AvePoint Confidence Platform for daily backups, monitoring, governance, and data restoration. It solves backup issues, satisfies business retention policies, and ensures data protection and fast recovery. It alerts us to malicious activities, making it easy to manage our data securely.

What’s really good about the AvePoint Confidence Platform is how it brings data protection, governance, security, and compliance for all your SaaS apps together in one easy-to-use solution. Rather than juggling a bunch of different tools, companies can manage backups, data lifecycle tasks, risk checks, and AI-related work all in one place. One thing I've found tricky with the AvePoint Confidence Platform is that some of the naming conventions across features and modules can be a bit unclear or inconsistent, making it harder to navigate and get started than it should be. For our school, the AvePoint Confidence Platform solves the practical problems of protecting and managing student, staff, and administrative data, reducing IT overhead, and ensuring compliance with data privacy and security requirements. It gives my school automated backups and fast restores for critical teaching and learning content in Microsoft 365, so that learning materials are always available and recoverable. It also automates governance and lifecycle management to help enforce policies, cut down on digital clutter, and protect sensitive information — all of which helps my technical team do more with limited resources.

AvePoint provides me with a tool I don't have anywhere else, along with additional benefits like backups. The feature I don't have elsewhere is the ability to copy and move SharePoint sites and templates with ease. Sometimes users and data appear even though those users don't need to be backed up. Some of the users that show up are shared accounts or generic ones that aren't being used. Having to justify that or keep our users below a specific amount is sometimes a waste of time. We use it for backups for SharePoint, Salesforce, and other Microsoft products. The bigger issues this resolves is Microsoft's inability to move sites and files around SharePoint easily.

The apps cover a wide range of areas and use cases, and we're constantly discovering new governance or compliance scenarios we can address that are already available somewhere in the Confidence Platform. However, the sheer number of apps can sometimes make it confusing to know where to look for specific features. There's some overlap between different apps, and we're hopeful the Command Centers will continue to provide a centralized UI. We use it for sprawl and governance for M365 and Power Platform. Reporting and insight on agent usage, oversharing remediation, and other policy enforcement are also handled.

A major strength of this platform is the wide range of services and features it offers within one unified ecosystem. AvePoint combines cloud backup, data security posture management, governance automation, permissions reporting, policy enforcement, lifecycle management, AI readiness, and risk remediation tools into a single cohesive product. This integrated approach lets organizations tackle various security, compliance, and operational issues without having to rely on multiple disconnected tools. The platform supports Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Entra ID, Azure, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and many other services, making it valuable for organizations with diverse cloud environments. While the AvePoint Confidence Platform delivers significant value and a broad set of capabilities, one area that could be improved is the consistency of the user experience across modules. Some administrative functions and workflows that offer similar capabilities are presented with different UI elements, navigation patterns, and layouts, which can create a learning curve for administrators working across different parts of the platform. Additionally, the platform's extensive feature set can sometimes lead to navigation sprawl. The AvePoint Confidence Platform has brought substantial value to our organization by providing a comprehensive set of capabilities for Microsoft 365 data protection, governance, security, compliance, and risk management in a single platform. Rather than using separate point solutions, AvePoint allows us to handle backup, data exposure monitoring, policy enforcement, permissions management, lifecycle management, and broader compliance goals through one integrated approach. As a result, administration is simpler, we have better visibility into our Microsoft 365 environment, and our overall security posture has improved. From a financial perspective, the platform has offered strong value for the investment. The licensing model provides broad functionality across multiple use cases, allowing us to leverage a wide range of capabilities without the need to purchase and manage numerous standalone products. The combination of backup, governance, policy management, reporting, and risk management features has enabled us to maximize the return on our investment while supporting both operational and security objectives. One of the most positive aspects of our experience has been the onboarding and implementation process. AvePoint's engineers and deployment teams were knowledgeable, well-organized, and highly responsive throughout implementation. They demonstrated a strong understanding of Microsoft 365, governance, and security requirements, helping us successfully deploy the platform while providing practical guidance and best practices. Their expertise significantly reduced implementation complexity and accelerated our ability to realize value from the platform.

The automated governance features help us maintain proper oversight and compliance across our extensive environment. It's very effective at keeping our assets actively assigned to owners. With Opus reporting, we get useful data and insights that allow us to better optimize our storage. Occasionally, we come across missing features or API gaps, but the product team is very engaged and collaborative, working with us on new developments and future enhancements. They're a great partner for understanding the roadmap and letting us provide input. The Confidence Platform is helping us mature our governance, compliance, insights, and data controls. This gives our company confidence in having the right safeguards in place, which in turn enables us to more seamlessly innovate with Generative AI and other solutions.
