"Great platform for getting stable builds across versions"

Sometimes they even support very old, outdated versions, which is a big help when you have no other options. They provide excellent suggestions for the minimal version jump you need to fix your current problem. Good things come with a price, though; the pricing is a bit high for the support they provide. If they could offer community support or something similar, it would benefit developers. ActiveState provides ready-to-use open-source and commercial builds for Perl, Python, etc. It's especially beneficial for me with Perl builds—now I can pick any version, build it, and test my use cases conveniently.

You don't need to containerize everything. Keeping dependencies where they need to be has never been easier. I've used it multiple times and often recommend it. It's not widely known in the tech community, so users might not know how to use ActiveState, whereas building a Docker container is common knowledge. It's just a matter of time. It's easy to install dependencies and removes the frustrations associated with installing applications.

It emphasizes building too much; it should be more like Git, focusing on code. With Git, you see code immediately, but with ActiveState, you only see builds, which isn't intuitive. Apart from retrieving Tcl, I don't see any benefit to using ActiveState over GitHub or GitHub Actions. Honestly, even a simple Dockerfile is better than this...
