What's New

Following is the new feature in this release.

Support for Hyper-V Local Data Collection
  1. Collector now supports Hyper-V configurational data collection directly from hyper-v hosts.
  2. Collection can be done by downloading the collector tool in any of the hosts which are part of the cluster we wish to collect data from and choosing Hyper-V local in the drop down menu.
Precheck Script Added to Debug Remote Connectivity Issues in Hyper-V
  1. A powershell script is bundled within the tool which can run a few checks to see if the expected services are available and if other prerequisites are satisfied.
  2. Upon running into the error screen in hyper-v collection, the tool will redirect to the ntnxcollector_precheck.ps1 script which can be run on the host to get the relevant data.
Login Page Modifications

The login page now has a drop down to choose the flow that is, vCenter, Prism, and Hyper-V (remote) and Hyper-V (local), and the default ports are populated upon selection.

Improved Error Messages
Error messages are better handled to give more clarity and remove ambiguities.
Support for Hostname in Hyper-V Collection
Host name can be used to connect to the hyper-v host instance, this should however be just the host name and not the FQDN, and the host should be accessible through the same network.
UI Enhancements in VM Summary
Both the total storage and consumed storage values are displayed in the VM Summary panel.

What's New

Following are the new features in this release:

Support for Performance Data Collection in Hyper-V
  1. Hyper-V clusters now support Performance Data Collection.
  2. Performance data can be collected for a minimum of 1 day and can go up to 7 days.
Support for Single Node Hyper-V Cluster
  1. Collector now supports single node Hyper-V clusters.
  2. Single Node Hyper-V clusters supports collection of both configuration & performance data.

Resolved Hyper-V (Remote) connection issues
Prerequisite of Domain Admin check is now handled in case the systems are running non English languages.
Option to connect to Hyper-V (Remote) cluster using port 5986 or 5985

Hyper-V (Remote) connection can now be established using HTTPS port 5986 or HTTP port 5985. The default port for Hyper-V (Remote) connection is HTTPS port 5986.

What's New

Following are the new features in this release:

VM Provisioning Status and other benefits
A new column "VM Provisioning Status" is added to the VM List tab. The column lists the provisioning status of all the VMs. The Provisioning Status is also displayed in form of a donut graph in the VMs Summary tab. This functionality is only available on the Collector Portal.
Windows Bits are now signed

The Collector bundle for Windows is now digitally signed to confirm the software author and guarantee that the code has not been altered or corrupted.

AES asymmetric encryption for enhanced security
AES asymmetric encryption is used for enhanced security while uploading the Collector data to the Collector Portal.
Collector download bundle now includes the Collector Security Guide
The Collector Security Guide is now included in the Collector download bundle.

Updated Features

Following are the feature updates made in this release:

Collector output exported as XLSX now includes the VM List sheet
The collector output exported as an XLSX includes an additional sheet for VM List that allows you to look at individual VMs and their properties.
Collector output exported as XLSX now includes a Metadata sheet
The collector output exported as an XLSX includes a Metadata sheet that captures information relating to the collection metadata .
VM level IOPS value available for vCenter Server
For vCenter Server, VM level IOPS value is now populated.
Updated column headers in XLSX export
Improved the column headers of the Collector output exported as XLSX by adding relevant units and additional textual improvements.

Resolved Issues

The following issues are resolved in this release:

  • Resolved the drive capacity and quantity issues seen with Prism on the "Host Summary" page.
  • Resolved an issue that caused login issues when non-ASCII characters are used in the password.
  • The column header units in the XLSX export are updated from MB to MiB for accuracy.

What's New

Note: This Collector version has currently been made unavailable on the Product Download page due to an UI issue described in the Known Issue section. Nutanix is aware of the issue and working on a fix.

The following features are introduced in this release:

Nutanix Collector for ONTAP CIFS shares (Beta)
The Collector Desktop Application now provides you the option to collect data for NetApp ONTAP (8.3 or above) File Shares, CIFS. You can gather a valuable set of information that can be extremely helpful in sizing your File Share requirements accurately. Collector allows you to collect data directly from the native storage boxes. You can see the following cluster, node, share, volume, and QoS level details in the output generated by Collector.
  • Cluster details - Capacity, Storage Efficiency, number of CIFS Shares and number of Volumes.
  • Node details - Node Health, Model, Vendor, Location, ONTAP version, CPU and Memory information.
  • Share details - Share Path, Access Control Levels, and Max Connections.
  • Volume details - Capacity, Storage Efficiency, Snapshot Capacity, Performance Level, and Backup Details.
  • QoS details - Policy Group, Max Throughput and Workload Count.

Collector Portal Invite and Share

Collector Portal 3.5 introduces the Invite & Share option that allows you to share your projects with users who are not registered users of Collector Portal. You can add their email address and invite them to share your project for collaborations or other discussions.

Updated Features

Following are the feature updates made in this release:

Loading screen messages added
Messages added to provide status during the loading processes while transitioning from one screen to another.
Public page for third-party software notices and info
A dedicated public page for third-party software notices and information which can be viewed from the link in the About Collector menu.

Resolved Issues

The following issues are resolved in this release:

  • Guest OS details can now be seen with Prism on the "VM Summary" page. You will also find the detailed information about the Guest OS for each VM in the output sheets generated by Collector.
  • Rectified inconsistent values in CPU and Memory dials of Prism and AHV collections.
  • Resolved an issue in the CPU and Memory charts of vCenter where in some cases the data points had above 100% values.

Known Issues

This section describes issues found in this or recent releases that you might encounter:

  • The Collector UI might stall for Prism and vCenter with the following message due to a missing variable required for the Guest OS support functionality that is added in this release.

    notSupported is not defined

  • CIFS Shares count equal or greater than 20 are displayed as 20+ CIFS Shares.
