Qualify a Product Application Fees Details

Overview of Application Fees

The DLC requires manufacturers to submit an application fee to cover various costs related to the Qualify a Product process. These costs include funding DLC QPL programming, policy development, IT services, QPL management, and application review expenses. The fee amount depends on the type of application and the specific details of the product group in the application submission. Manufacturers can make payment via credit card or by check, with detailed instructions provided on the Invoices page.

Level 1 Applications

Level 1 Applications have a standard fee of $750. For LUNA applications, additional charges may apply, including $375 for each extra independent test report (ITR) and $50 for each product qualified as LUNA. Level 1 Applications require product-specific testing, and cross-applying data is only allowed under Level 2 Applications. Premium classification applications necessitate a driver ISTMT and a specialized fee for Primary Use Designations may be added.

Level 2 Applications

Level 2 Application fees vary based on the size and complexity of the submitted product group. These fees typically include $375 per ITR evaluation, $30 per additional product family member, and $50 for each product qualified as LUNA. The fee structure ranges from $260 for 1-10 products to $675 for 2501+ products. Manufacturers get the final fee determined by a DLC reviewer, ensuring fairness and accuracy.

Private Label Applications

Private Label Application fees align with the original product application fees and include charges for each Level 1 Application fee or ITR, additional family members, and products qualified as LUNA. The fee structure is similar to Level 2 Applications, ranging from $260 for 1-10 products to $675 for 2501+ products. Detailed guidelines exist for cases where differences are solely related to dimming performance.

Updating Listed Products

Updating listed products entails fees consistent with the initial application costs. New test reports and additional family members influence the fees. Different scenarios such as updating to new Technical Requirement versions, re-qualifying delisted products, updating LUNA Qualified Products, and adapting to new Technical Requirements Versions have specific fee structures. Notably, updating existing family members on the QPL does not incur additional fees.
