Join the DesignLights Consortium for Better Lighting Solutions

Improving Energy Efficiency and Lighting Quality

The DesignLights Consortium (DLC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing energy efficiency, lighting quality, and the overall human experience in the built environment. By collaborating with various commercial lighting stakeholders, the DLC develops comprehensive criteria for lighting performance that keeps pace with technological advancements. Together, the DLC and its partners are working towards creating brighter and more sustainable solutions for a better future.

Ways to Engage with the Consortium

For the past decade, the DLC has responded to the rapidly changing landscape of the commercial lighting industry by actively seeking support and input from consortium activities. Whether you represent energy efficiency programs, regulatory bodies, lighting manufacturers, or other related entities, the DLC encourages you to join their efforts. Embracing diverse perspectives fosters innovative problem-solving and ensures comprehensive solutions are developed.

Join MyDLC for a Personalized Experience

By creating a MyDLC account, interested individuals can tailor their experience with the DLC. Through the MyDLC dashboard, users gain access to content specific to their needs, enabling them to stay informed and engaged with relevant updates and information.

Submitting Products for Qualification

LED and controls manufacturers can submit their products for qualification through the DLC's rigorous application process. These products undergo thorough evaluation to ensure they meet or exceed the minimum requirements set forth in the current Technical Requirements. Once qualified, these systems are listed on the Qualified Products Lists (QPLs), making them eligible for rebates and highlighting their performance excellence.

Becoming a DLC Member for Utility Programs

Utility energy efficiency programs and regional energy efficiency organizations across the U.S. and Canada are invited to become DLC Members. These Members play a vital role in advancing the DLC's mission of optimizing energy through interconnected solutions focused on quality and sustainability. By collaborating with Members, the DLC shapes policies and specifications to drive transformative changes in the lighting market.

Driving Sustainability Through Collaboration

The DLC, along with consortium participants, is committed to pushing forward energy efficiency and high-performance lighting products. By working together, the industry can lead in sustainability and carbon reduction efforts, ensuring that lighting remains a cornerstone of environmental preservation and energy efficiency. Individuals interested in increasing their engagement with the DLC or proposing new collaboration ideas are encouraged to reach out to the organization.

Qualify a Product for Solid State Lighting Level 2 Applications

Eligibility Criteria for Level 2 Applications

To submit a Level 2 (formerly Family Grouping) application, the group of products must adhere to specific criteria. The family group should consist of a single LED package/module/array or a standardized set of LED packages/modules/arrays. The fixture must demonstrate scalability or modular use of identical components like electronics, optics, heat sinking, etc. While some design parameters can vary, they should not impact performance significantly. Multiple driver variations and LED drive currents can be present within the family group.

Qualify a Product with SSL and LUNA: Level 1 Application Guidelines

Eligibility for Level 1 Applications

To qualify for a Level 1 (formerly Single Product) Application, your product must either be a single product with one model number or a family of models with minimal differences. These differences can include variations in CCT, dimming capabilities with the same driver, voltage ranges with the same driver, or non-performance affecting variations like housing color. The efficacy testing must cover the lowest-CCT product in the group, and if multiple efficacy requirements exist, you may need to apply as a Level 2 application.
