GreenerPrinter: Comprehensive Guide to Proofing Options

Soft Proofs

Soft proofs play a crucial role in the proofing process at GreenerPrinter. These digital PDFs provide a preview of the final product's appearance, including scoring and cutting details. They are not only the fastest but also the most cost-effective way to review your job. With each order, you have the opportunity to receive up to two free soft proofs. Additional proofs can be requested at a nominal charge. Upon placing your order, you can expect to receive an email with a link to your soft proof within one business day. For the most accuracy, it's recommended to view these proofs in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.

Hard Proofs

Hard proofs, physical copies of your project, are another option for proofing at GreenerPrinter. The cost of a hard proof varies based on the complexity of your project, and you will be charged for each proof mailed to you. These proofs are mailed according to your shipping preferences. It's important to note that depending on the printing method used, a proof on your chosen paper stock may or may not be possible. If you're concerned about the paper quality, you can visit the sample request page to get a better idea of the materials used. Additionally, you have the option to order an ink drawdown on your selected paper stock for a fee.

Mock-up Proofs

Mock-up proofs offer a tangible preview of how your file will appear on the selected paper stock. While these proofs may not be color-accurate, they serve as visual references for your project. Mock-up proofs are sent in the final size but without any production finishing. For instance, if you order a folded card, the proof will be cut to size but not folded. They also display die lines to indicate where scoring and folding would occur during production. The cost of a mock-up proof depends on your project's specifics, and you will be charged for each proof sent.

Color Proofs

Color proofs are designed to provide the most accurate color representation of your project. Unlike mock-up proofs, these flat sheets are specifically created to showcase color precision, albeit not printed on your chosen paper stock. Color proofs are not cut to the final size and do not include production finishing. They are ideal for those seeking the closest match to the final print colors. Each color proof is available at a fixed cost, and shipping preferences will be adhered to as specified.

Reviewing Your Proof

Upon receiving your proof, you have three choices: approve the proof, request new files to be sent, or ask for changes to be made. If you approve the proof before 4:00 pm PST, production turnaround time starts the next business day. In case you need to send new files, you can upload them via the website. If changes are required, instruct the modifications, and a staff member will reach out. It's important to note that file processing incurs a fee in the case of requesting changes.

Additional Information

If you disapprove of a hard proof, you have the option to choose a soft or hard proof for the next iteration. GreenerPrinter's comprehensive proofing options ensure that you have the flexibility to review and approve your project with confidence before production begins.

GreenerPrinter: Comprehensive Guide to File Setup for Eco-Friendly Printing

Artwork and Document Setup

When preparing your files for printing with GreenerPrinter, it is crucial to adhere to specific guidelines to ensure a smooth printing process. Your document size should match the trim size plus a 0.125" bleed on all sides. This requirement guarantees that your final printed product will have clean edges and prevent any white borders. To verify these settings, you can use existing InDesign or Illustrator documents by selecting File -> Document Setup. If your project involves elements like perforations, folds, foils, or varnishes, or if you have die cuts or custom shapes, it is essential to account for these features during the document setup phase.
