Physical Fitness Test Overview
The FBI requires special agents to pass a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) to ensure readiness for training at the Academy and on the job. The PFT includes events like sit-ups, sprints, push-ups, runs, and pull-ups for Tactical Recruitment Program candidates.
PFT Training Tips
Training for the PFT involves total body fitness simulation to meet test demands. Tips range from balancing strength training, running schedules, pre-PFT activities, to wearing appropriate gear and staying hydrated on test days.
Physical Fitness Test Protocol App
The FBI Physical Fitness Test App offers an interactive way to grasp PFT standards. Aspiring agents and fitness buffs can access training benchmarks and understand essential techniques for FBI's official PFT through this mobile application available on IOS and Android platforms.
Medical Review
Candidates must submit medical records to the Chief Medical Officer for evaluation of physical fitness ability. Specific vaccinations like Polio, Hepatitis A and B, and MMR are required. The full list of mandatory vaccinations is detailed in the Medical Guide for candidate reference.
Vision and Hearing Requirements
Special agents need optimal vision and hearing abilities. Detailed standards include distant visual acuity criteria, considerations for contact lens use and refractive surgery, color vision tests, pure tone audiometry screenings, and additional hearing evaluations like Hearing in Noise Test (HINT).
