VP, Deputy General Counsel

Roku is seeking a highly experienced VP, Deputy General Counsel to oversee our global litigation portfolio, including intellectual property disputes. This role is pivotal in defining and driving litigation strategy while partnering with various teams to mitigate legal risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Own Roku's global litigation portfolio from start to finish.
• Define and implement litigation strategies; make decisions on when to litigate or settle.
• Build a scalable litigation system, including intake processes, early assessments, and playbooks.
• Oversee Roku's intellectual property portfolio, including patent strategy and prosecution oversight.
• Manage the outside counsel program and enforce cost controls.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Ads, Finance, and leadership to minimize legal risks.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience leading complex litigation matters.
• In-house leadership experience; top-tier law firm background is a plus.
• Experience managing broad litigation portfolios beyond intellectual property.
• Proven track record of managing outside counsel and legal budgets.
• Experience in high-growth technology or media companies.
• Ability to translate legal risk into business decisions and communicate clearly.
