Private Label Applications for Qualifying Products

Private Label Eligibility

Private Label applications allow products to be listed under a private label as long as they are identical to the originally qualified versions from the OEM. To submit a Private Label application, the OEM product must already be DLC qualified. If using OEM test reports for unqualified products, complete the Test Report Authorization Form and submit either a Level 1 or Level 2 application. Organizations handling multiple brands must provide private label documentation and fees with the original application. Wholly-owned subsidiaries using different model numbers/brands must follow this process.

Update Process

To update the performance of previously qualified products through a Private Label application, select the Private Label - Update application type in the Application Portal. This ensures that essential product information from the original application is retained during DLC review. Choosing a different application type may cause delays in the review process as it will not link the updated information properly.

Delisting and Re-Listing

Private labeled products rely on the qualification and listing maintenance of the OEM product. If the OEM product is delisted, all associated private labeled products will also be delisted. To relist these products, a new Level 1 or Level 2 application with fresh testing for the product must be provided. Reasons for OEM delisting include voluntary requests, non-compliance with program requirements, failed surveillance testing, logo misuse, or other misrepresentations.

QPL Listings

Private Label applications aim to list products identical to their OEM versions on the Qualified Products List (QPL) without redundant testing. Although private labels are listed under different model numbers/brands, the performance data must match the OEM versions. To ensure validation, Private Label applications are reviewed alongside at least one parent model of the OEM with full color data. Premium Listing classification requires an additional independent driver ISTMT. Fees are based on the original product qualifications.

Model Number Guidance

Private label model numbers must be unique and represent the specific OEM product clearly, avoiding market confusion. A single model number should encompass all variations, including performance and non-performance affecting options. Options like color choices, mounts, or voltage variations can be bracketed in the model number. Alternate drivers must be listed separately if they perform differently than the original.
